WEBINAR Recording : Teasing Out and Mapping Environmental Conditions that Influence Oil Palm Performance for Improved Estate Management

by Dr. Suan-Pheng Kam

In this webinar, Dr. Kam explained how an analytical tool can be used to identify sets of similar environmental conditions (aka ‘homologous events’) that commercial oil palm plantations are subjected to, which are then mapped using an in-house developed mapping tool and the outputs used to improve estimation of fruit yield response to management factors that are controllable. This approach of teasing out homologous events (like conditions of soil, topography and water availability) offers opportunities for estate managers to obtain insights on how to better manage their crops.
