IPNI Highlights 4R Nutrient Stewardship at Rio+20 Conference

The Rio+20 conference on sustainable development, which took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in June 2012 was the biggest UN conference ever and a major step forward in achieving a sustainable future – the future we want. Several world leaders, along with thousands of participants from governments, private sector, NGOs, and other groups discussed and deliberated on how we can reduce poverty, advance social equity, and ensure environmental protection on an even more crowded planet. IPNI was represented at the conference by Dr. Luis Prochnow, Director of the IPNI Brazil Program, who gave three presentations (see "Related Content" on your left!), a television interview, and also participated in discussions at several special events. In his presentations, he highlighted the theoretical aspects and practical role of 4R Nutrient Stewardship in achieving sustainable agriculture. "It was a pleasure to see people quoting 4R after learning about the concept," said Dr. Prochnow.
