INCITEC PIVOT OF AUSTRALIA JOINS INTERNATIONAL PLANT NUTRITION INSTITUTE

May 20, 2008—Norcross, Georgia, U.S.A—Incitec Pivot, a chemical manufacturer supplying agricultural fertilizers and industrial chemicals for Australian and overseas markets, is joining as a full member of the International Plant Nutrition Institute (IPNI). The new membership was officially determined at the May 17 meeting of the IPNI Board of Directors meeting in Vienna, Austria.

“The other members of IPNI are very happy to welcome the support and participation of Incitec Pivot as we further the important work of the Institute focused on agronomic research and education, environmental concerns, and related issues,” stated IPNI President Dr. Terry L. Roberts. IPNI was launched January 1, 2007; its mission is to develop and promote scientific information about the responsible management of plant nutrients for the benefit of the human family.

“We at Incitec Pivot have a strong corporate commitment to our business and to our customers, but also to a healthy society and environment. The goals and objectives of IPNI are in line with our views as we move forward in an international context,” said Mr. Julian Segal, Incitec Pivot Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Segal and Mr. James Whiteside, General Manager, Supply Chain and Trading, have been elected as the two representatives of the company who will serve on the IPNI Board of Directors.

Incitec Pivot has headquarters in Southbank, Victoria, Australia, and operates a phosphate mine in Queensland, plants in Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria. The company has a distribution network stretching from North Queensland to Tasmania. By supplying more than 50% of Australia’s agricultural nutrient needs, it plays an essential role in helping farmers increase productivity and remain internationally competitive. Incitec Pivot was created with the merger of Pivot and Incitec Fertilizers in 2003, but the business has roots going back to the early part of last century when Australian superphosphate production was engineered.

In addition to sales across eastern and southern Australia, Incitec Pivot exports significant volumes of fertilizer to overseas markets through its newly-established trading arm, Southern Cross International.

Membership in IPNI is composed of companies that are basic producers of one or more of the major plant nutrients (nitrogen, phosphate, potash, and sulfur) for agricultural purposes. Large retail organizations that do not qualify as basic producers may qualify as associate members. Certain other associations and institutes qualify as affiliate members. The organization seeks to provide a coordinated scientific foundation for fertilizer nutrient use and to scientifically address associated environmental issues.

Members of IPNI now include: Agrium Inc.; Arab Fertilizer Association; Arab Potash Company; Belarusian Potash Company; Bunge Fertilizantes S.A.; Canadian Fertilizer Institute; CF Industries Holdings, Inc.; Groupe OCP; Incitec Pivot; International Fertilizer Industry Association; International Potash Institute; Intrepid Mining, LLC; K+S KALI GmbH; The Mosaic Company; PotashCorp; Saskferco; Simplot; Sinofert Holdings Limited; SQM; Terra Industries Inc.;The Fertilizer Institute; and Uralkali.
