Potassium responses in beans, canola and wheat

K deficiency in wheat


Following the 2016 experiments investigating K responses, a series of field experiments was undertaken at Glenthompson in collaboration with Mr Jim Zwar and Southern Farming Systems. The experiments aim to compare the effect of timing and rate of potassium (KCl) on wheat, canola and beans. The site soil test values (0-10 cm) are shown in the table below and indicate the current K status.


Below is a series of images from these experiments taken in mid-September. At this time there appears to be responses to K on wheat, maybe beans but not evident in canola. Of course yield will be the final arbiter of response.
